Mayor of Darlington Visit!

Today, we had the pleasure of welcoming the Mayor of Darlington, Cyndi Hughes to our offices at Skinnergate in Darlington!

The Mayor visited to hear about our brand new scheme, Ascot’s Focus Care Call, which is a free service for people who have Ascot Care supporting them in the Darlington area.

This new service allows us time to spend with the person to get to know a detailed history and to be aware of important events in their lives. We can then develop a Digital Life History, which we then create a PowerPoint slideshow and this is then saved onto memory stick. So when new staff come to visit our clients, they can enjoy getting to know more about them with the client through the slideshow.

We have found that this scheme is a great way to break the ice between the Support Assistant and the client and serves a great memory tool for their family and friends too.

Our Service User, John was the first person to complete our Digital Life History, which was presented to him today whilst the Mayor of Darlington was present.

It was also fantastic to have the Mayor present as we revealed our new shop frontage, which has been transformed over the past couple of days.

The improvements are part of Darlington Borough Council’s £23.3m Towns Fund project, which aims to transform the town centre and boost the local economy.
