Armed Forces Week 2020
Armed Forces Day (AFD) is an annual opportunity for the UK public to celebrate the work of our Armed Forces. Saturday 27 June 2020 will be the twelfth annual AFD and the first to be marked virtually.
As many events have been cancelled due to the coronavirus outbreak, AFD will be celebrated virtually on the 27 June on AFD social channels with the public encouraged to show their support from their homes.
Ascot Care will be supporting the day as a way of showing support to all the men and women who make up the Armed Forces community, from serving troops to service families, veterans and cadets.
Celebrations of Armed Forces Day begin at the start of Armed Forces Week starting Monday 20th June. Each day this week will be used to highlight different elements of the military via themed days:
Monday - Global Armed Forces
Tuesday - Innovation
Wednesday - Reserves day
Thursday - Veterans
Friday - Cadets
Saturday - AFD
We believe that showing support and appreciation of the Armed Forces is hugely important, and as such Ascot Care are continuing to support the military community and Armed Forces week.
Along side our continued charity work and organised events for Hire a Hero, this week we have pledged support to a fundraiser for Rugby For Heroes. The event will see participants summit Wales’ 15 highest peaks, a total of 31 miles with an assent of 13,000 feet and the steepest gradient at 64%.
Wednesday the 24 June is Reserves day and as an ERS Gold advocate we have been invited by Brigadier Olly Brown Commander 4th Infantry Brigade &
HQ North East to the UK’s First Virtual Reserves Day Armed Forces Covenant Signing Ceremony. The event will see businesses pledge their support by signing the Armed Forces covenant.
