They employ over 100 staff including nurses and care assistants, who either work in care homes and nursing homes or look after people with in their own homes. “ the business has changed and grown substantially, when started off it was the supply of staff to care homes but now we offer home care to clients in their own home, that might be 1 hour a day or might be 24 hours a day 7 days a week, whatever the client requires we have the experience and staffing levels to assist them”.
Whilst not only helping to better the local community by creating jobs and aiming to provide ‘the highest level of care’, Ascot have additionally won a number of awards and nominations for their charitable work – such as the silver and gold armed forces employment recognition scheme, for their support of the military community. The agency care mangers has 34 years’ experience in care and has worked for the company since 1999. “it’s a long time! But I’m not the only one, this year we have two members of the care team that will celebrate their 19th and 20th years with the company, they have worked here as care assassinates and senior care assistant’s since we started, they know the levels of care we want to deliver, obviously the care staff are a key part of that and when the company can keep people for 10,15, 20 years it has a really positive effect for the clients”.
The company’s nominated charity is Hire a hero, which helps military veterans transition out of the army into civilian life. Ascot care also help various other charities - such as cash for kids - and try to engage with local communities through sponsorship or financial assistance on a local level.
“We do this through our own fundraisers that both staff and directors organise and run. Recent events have included golf days, raffles, dementia walks, sponsorships and social isolation projects where we invite elderly members of the public into our care homes for meals or coffee mornings with no charge.”
Ascot Care have also seen many clients reach milestone birthdays, “When we first started reaching the age of 100 was rare, this day and age it is common for elderly people to live long and happy lives”.
“People live longer for a variety of reasons now, including living healthier themselves as well as advances in medicine. We only recently had a client who celebrated his 100th birthday”
Whilst successfully reaching and surpassing all of their previous goals, Ascot Care’s main aim for the future is to continue the same open and innovative approach and strive to constantly improve.
“We will continue to invest time and money into our staff and their training, engage further with the local community and look at any inspiration that will ultimately lead to better care levels and a better service for our clients and their families.”
